C and Val come to Lithuania

In May Camilla and Valerie had nothing better to do than fly half way around the world to visit me. And wasn't I excited about it! A little too excited the night we drank Absolute Hunks, but we had a good time anyway. I still find peas in my bed though...

The view of St. Anne's church out of my apartment.

Me and Val near St. Anne's church.

A hotel on the way into the Old Town.

Some graffiti on the way to the Old Town.

An interesting back view of the Cathedral. We're just about to cross from Pilies g. to Cathedral Square.

Looking up Gedimino g.

Looking down Gedimino g.

They have cafes in Lithuania too!

Camilla is not skeptical about the quality of the coffee... I assured her it's good!

Me in Val in our slippers at the Holocaust Museum.

This is a pretty grim picture I know... looking through the glass floor to the remains under the execution room... ick!

A really pretty church in the Old Town.

The market on Pilies g.

The archway into my courtyard.

My courtyard.

Looking to the Hill of Three Crosses from my front door.

At Marciliukles Kletis with Egis. We met him in Colorado two years ago. Is it me, or does he make me look really small?

And the drinking has begun!

I only met this guy a couple minutes ago, but you wouldn't know it from this pic!

Camilla and Val.

Girls.

Egis had to carve up our pig for us.

Me: Wow this is hot. Val: Hmmm... there's a lot of skin on this! C: No problem! There's lots of meat under it!

Egis is an excellent photographer. He captures all the best moments.

The band came to serenade us with some Elvis classics.

It was a spur of the moment decision that may have warranted further consideration, but I'd had a few drinks...

I think Camilla is winning.

The Three Crosses.

Aww!!!

Back at my apartment Camilla kept the martinis coming. Mindaugas may not want to remember that he spent much of the night in Camilla's hat!

A calm drinker.

A rowdy drinker.

A drunk drinker!

Camilla shows my graduation pictures to Egis.

What is it about the ski helmet that makes everyone want to put it on?

Now Mindaugas is wearing my bike helmet. Notice that the pictures from this party end here... due to a run-in I had with the couch. The couch won.

Denied at the Amber Museum in Palanga. Not on summer hours yet.

The gardens were nice though!

Valerie and Camilla on the beach.

Nobody believes there is such a nice beach in Lithuania!

You can't miss the fish stands walking out onto the pier!

YUMMMY! Smoked Eel!

Ahh... the sea...

The soon to be renovated pedestrian street in Palanga.

A guest house in Palanga Camilla liked the look of.

Ahh the infamous coaches we met at a terrible bar in Palanga. They didn't speak English which made it really interesting.

Camilla and her new beau on the dance floor. Hmm... I'm surprised the photos end here! Well, Saturday morning we were pretty hung over... at least Valerie was! And the car didn't look so good either! Hehehehe....

Saturday night in Trakai. We got there just after the rain!

Trakai Castle

Camilla and Val

Trakai Castle is surrounded by a bunch of lakes. Those are my friend Mirka's sailboats there on the left.

We went for a little walk around the castle.

The sun was pretty nice!

Mirka's boats.

We decided to rent a little row boat to cruise around the lake in. Camilla and Val relax while I row.

Oh yea. Camp in Minnesota is finally paying off!

Nice rainbow.

Looks like a pretty fun party on that boat!

Not a bad day on the lake!

Nice photo... love the light!

So that's the end! Nothing like a quick trip to Lithuania!
