Mud Season

13 March 2004

Today is day #1 of Marathon Training 2004!

I will run my third marathon this fall with my Swedish running partner (and partner in crime) Malin and my friend from Cosmo, Anze. We haven't picked a race yet, but it looks like we're leaning towards Venice at the end of October with warm-up half-marathons in Stockholm (June) and Helsinki (August)!

Today is also the most beautiful day I've seen in Lithuania since Summer 2001! It's + rather than - for starters... for all you Celsius illiterate... it's above freezing! After watching run one of Women's SL and Men's GS at the WC Finals in Sestrieres I put on my squeaky running shoes, grabbed my hat and headed for the park next to my apartment. I went for just a short jog, 1.5 mi, along the river, past a couple churches and up the back way into Uzupis home. It was so beautiful outside, it felt so good to be running again and the sun on my back was so energizing, it was hard to go back inside! But second run was starting and I was dying to see hot it turned out! (Anja Paerson won the SL globe and wrapped up the overall title, Schleper got a podium and Bode went out of the GS smashing his hopes for a globe)
It's so nice in fact, that I've opened a window to let in a little fresh air! A few more days like this and I'll be chasing the Japanese and Russian girls down in Athens!

So, long story short, it's a good day in Lithuania!
Hope everyone else has as good a day as me!
