Merry Christmas from Slovakia!
23 December 2003
After a wonderful week with Joey in Lithuania,
we traveled to Tatranska Strba, Slovakia by bus to spend Christmas
with Katka and her family.
First an overnight bus to Warsaw, then a bus to Krakow, then a bus
to Zakopane, a ski town at the border where Katka had to pick us
up because there were no more buses to Poprad. Whew!
In Krakow, we got out of the bus for 45 minutes
and got some kielbasa and perogies. That made our trip through Poland
worth it!
Now it's beautiful here, today we had sun and Katka and Oyvind took
us skiing, cross country of course!
Tomorrow we will try for some alpine skiing. And, tomorrow Jason
will come just in time for Christmas Eve dinner which is bigger
here than Christmas Day.
On the 25th we'll probably go skiing - if we're not too hungover
from Slibovitca! (The slovaks claim fortunately that you will never
get a hangover from Slibovitca, their national drink, a plum brandy.)
So now I want to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! |
