| Two
Weeks
18 December 2003
Two weeks ago today, I arrived in Vilnius. I went
to bed that night pretty nervous about whether I would be able to
find a job, an apartment, and friends here.
Tonight I go to bed, with a great job and lots of friends at Cosmo,
an offer to freelance for the Baltic Times (an English language
newspaper) as well as an offer to write for the Out & About
section of the same newspaper, I have an offer to do part time English
teaching at the American school, I will be working with the US Consulate
having round table discussions with Lithuanian journalists to encourage
western ethics in the press, I will be accepted to the Union of
Lithuanian Art Photographers (the most prestigious group of it's
kind in Lithuania), I have a great apartment and my brother is here.
As it stands, my parents better buy stock in Lithuanian Airlines
'cause I plan to stay for a while!
The weather goes back and forth 10 degrees above and below freezing
which makes it hard to keep snow on the ground, but makes it a bit
nicer for walking around town. Joe and I had dinner at a traditional
Lithuanian restaurant... Joe had cepelinai and I had a leg of pork
and sauerkraut. Aren't I the perfect image of a semi-vegetarian!
Not any more!
Tomorrow Joe and I go to visit the family in Kaunas and on Sunday
we leave for SVK!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! |
