16 December 2003
I went to my first Cosmo party tonight. The Christmas
party. It was great. It's an amazing, inviting group of people,
and they are also a lot of fun.
There was food, and drinks, cheeses and desserts available, and
everyone was in a festive mood.
I wasn't feeling quite ready to dance, without the backup of my
"girls" (Camilla and Valerie), but Anze pulled me out
and said, "Now we're you're girls!" Of course
they couldn't ever replace C and Val, but it's more than nice to
feel included.
The party was less than two minutes walking from my apartment, which
was good because the power went out at 5:30 apparently because I
had the oven and the washing machine on. It wasn't fixed till 9
and if the party wasn't so close I wouldn't have gone!
When I walked home, it was snowing again. The street was nearly
empty, just the light from the old gas lamps converted to electricity.
And is it ever snowing. My door is near the "angel square",
there is an angel who looks over Uzupis (my neighborhood), and the
snow coming down was so beautiful on the angel, I didn't want to
go inside. It wasn't even cold. And so quiet. I will go to sleep
tonight with the feeling that I am truly home.
My parents, grandparents and aunt will visit in March. I hope all
of you have a chance to visit Lithuania sometime, and I would like
to strongly recommend that you come to Vilnius at Christmas. It
is definitely the most beautiful time of year. |
