The irony is that I'm closer to World Cup ski racing
here in Lithuania than I ever was in Colorado!
Thanks to Eurosport I got to watch the Men's GS LIVE from Alta Badia,
Italy. It was an exciting race. Thomas Grandi, a very cute Canadian
I met years ago with Stan, hung on to 1st through about 22 racers
before he was finally knocked down to 6th. I got to see the Austrians
totally shut out with the top 6 being a Finn, an Italian, Bode,
a Norwegian, a French and Thomas. Wow.
Now I'm watching women's biathlon live from somewhere with a lot
of snow. It's a happy change since all week they've been showing
the European Curling Champs.
The only problem with Eurosport here is that it's in Russian.
Actually my TV speaks more languages than I do. I've got the BBC,
Travel Channel, MTV and Nickelodeon in English. I watch the Fresh
Prince of Bel-Aire in German, last night I watched Field of Dreams
in Lithuanian, and once in a while, I mix it up and watch Italian
soap operas on the Polish channel with Lithuanian subtitles.
The funniest thing is listening to uptight BBC news anchors tell
scores from the National Football League. Yea they mean the NFL.
Like the Mastercard commercial, TV, $200. Getting football scores
from the BBC, priceless. I won't even get started about the Brits
talking about hockey!
It snowed here last night, and today it's a cold, foggy rain. A
perfect afternoon to stay inside, watch ski racing, drink tea and
write Christmas cards.
Take care everyone and send DVD's! |
