In this issue of Jenn's Crazy Life, the Surfer
Poll Awards and Colorado Comes to California.
So folks, I have to say if I keep up this schedule I'm gonna be
10 years older and 50 lbs heavier when I leave California!
Tuesday night was the 31st Annual Surfer Poll Awards. That is when
all the readers from Surfer Magazine vote for their favorite riders,
best wipe out, best video, etc. And then Surfer throws a big party
and gives out awards! It's pretty fun, we all work in the same office
so we're all invited... pretty much all the Powder and Bike people
went. It's very glitzy, with lots of blond, tan, good looking, guys
with Aussie accents wearing flip-flops and a bunch of tall, tan
girls in short skirts. Not too bad. The Bike crew was a little out
of place as they all tend to be more of the scruffy pot-smoking
type, but we all had a good time. Needless to say we all had a few
glasses of wine, though we were home by 11:30 even though it was
up in Anaheim. But when we got back we ordered pizza. Wine + pizza
= too many carbs.
Last night, Colorado Ski Country USA through a little happy hour
get together for us Powder people. The PR people from CSC were there,
as well as PR people from almost all the major resorts in CO...
turns out some of them I know, and a bunch of them know people I
know from back in the racing days. That was fun, up in a cool bar
in Laguna Beach, they had an open bar and yummy appetizers. The
thing was only supposed to go till 8, but four margs later Jamey
and I, and another of our editors, hung out and went to sushi with
all the Colorado people - on Vail's tab. Nice. For anyone that knows
skiing, JP Auclair showed up at the sushi place and Jamey was hanging
out with him. Anyway, margs + sake + raw fish = time to take a night
off!
So it's now Thursday and we're hanging out at home... not to rest
up for the weekend but to recover from the week! This weekend, I
may hit up happy hour on the pier, but other than that I'm gonna
take a long walk on the beach and do about 1000 sit-ups!
That's the news from San Clemente, where all the women wear thongs,
the men are good looking, and the children surf above average. |
