Scraggles
and Brown
23 August 2003
My first full week at work went well... except
for that fact that Wednesday I had absolutely not enough to do.
I have in that case however, applied to several jobs in several
countries in Europe teaching English, mostly in Lithuania, Poland,
Czech, Slovakia, Slovenija, and a few other places I can't right
now remember. I though, what the hell. Just for fun.
Otherwise, I am very good at sending and receiving slides to and
from photographers, scanning, captioning, filing slides, and checking
slides for damage. I am told that I will one day (hopefully soon)
help with shooting photos of featured equipment in the studio, as
well as checking color on composite prints before we ship the magazine.
I have met pretty much everyone there is to meet at Powder, Bike
and Axis, as well as Surfer. And - best of all - I will be listed
in the credits page of Powder, Bike and Axis for the issues I work
on! That's cool! So pick up the next issues of those magazines in
September!
At home, we have two cats. Scraggles and Brown (the boys named them).
They are both sweet little tiger cats, and they live here and we
feed them. Apparently, they belonged to the last tenant in our apartment.
She moved and left the cats. Pat, one of my roommates, spoils Scraggles
with meat off his plate. She is now very used to it. Last week I
made a big delicious chicken on the grill and had sat down to dinner
on the porch with my newspaper. When I picked it up to look at something
I realized Scraggles was on the table... I shooed her with my hand,
and put down that paper. That's when I realized a WHOLE CHICKEN
LEG was missing off my plate! Scraggles had very deftly grabbed
it and took it to the floor where she was very much enjoying it.
The cat looks mal-nourished, but she eats like a linebacker!
Today I sat on the beach again most of the afternoon, after having
spent the morning talking on the phone to my cousin Lani and my
brother Joe. Then I made dinner, and at 7:15 walked down to the
beach again to watch the sunset. I try to do that as much as possible.
As the sun was disappearing below the horizon, a sail boat sailed
in front of it and you could see the silhouette. It was beautiful.
If anyone knows anyone out here with a sail boat... I'm DYING to
go!
So that's about it from San Clemente. You'll notice my address at
the bottom... feel free to send postcards, letters, cookies, money,
whatever inspires you... ;) And I will try to send some postcards
of my own.
