No, I have not found a boyfriend.
The last week has been pretty busy. I've continued to shoot stuff,
I've pretty much covered Wall St. now, but am still going with Times
Sq, fat people, teens smoking (I don't think many teens smoke anymore)
and the Homeless.
The weather last week was HOT and HUMID. Ugh, you just go outside
and within seconds you just feel dirty. I wash my hands more now
than I did at ski school with all those little kids snotting all
over me!
The girls, Camilla and Valerie, came on the weekend though and we
had fabulous weather. Friday was still hot, and no, it didn't rain!
If it had snowed on my graduation and rained on my birthday, boy
would there have been hell to pay!
Anyway we went out Friday night, saw Charlie's Angels, and then
had dinner with a lithuanian friend of mine and also Christian and
his girlfriend. The food was great and the company even better.
Of course we then went out and drank some Cosmo's Sex and the City
style.
Saturday, Valerie had to meet her parents, and Camilla and I went
to Times Sq to try to get tickets to La Boheme and eat. We didn't
get the tickets, but we ate at some really obnoxious diner filled
with tourists and singing waiters/waitresses.
Then, we walked up through Central Park, it was sunny, 75, a light
breeze... We sat by the boating pond for about 2 hours just watching
the people. Camilla said that on a day like that, she would want
to move there. Hmmm.... It was romantic though!
Then we walked to the Met, saw some art, had an ice cream on the
steps and then went back to Times Square. We didn't get tickets
to La Boheme, didn't win the lottery for Hairspray, but finally
bought tickets for Aida. We liked it, though we were so tired and
it was a bit slow in parts.
That evening Camilla, Valerie and I went down to the east village
and had a coffee in a cafe (Joe, the one with the fireplace in the
back that you and Aaron ate at...). I really enjoy just sitting
at a cafe late and watching the people. It is incredible how many
people are out.
Sunday we had breakfast at Veselka (a fabulous Ukrainian restaurant...
mmm... perogies!) and went shopping before the girls had to leave
and I had to go back to NJ.
On sunday evening Aunt Donna and I sat on the front porch and drank
vodka cranberries and watched the sky change. We did the same thing
last night too. We're finally getting some great weather here.
I don't know though. Sitting on the porch last night, with a glass
of wine, listening to Dixie Chics, Norah Jones and James Taylor,
I didn't want to move here, I wanted to go back to Colorado. New
York is great for many things, food, music, job opportunities, shopping,
theatre... but not for living, and besides, out here we're a two
hour commute door to door of the agency. I really couldn't do it
all the time. Even at Christian's in Flushing, it takes an hour
to get in to the agency. Maybe I'm just spoiled. I definitely took
for granted the five minute drive from Running River to home, and
the 10 minute walk to campus!
Still, I have come to feel at home in NY, but I don't think I could
ever make New York my home.
My parents get here this afternoon, so I have to get rolling. Lots
to do... I haven't done laundry in a while! We'll be going in to
The City on Friday to see the parade, fireworks, etc for the 4th
of July.
