| Puccini
in the Park, The Devils and The Exchange
13 June 2003
So it's the end of my first full week here in New
York. After a very busy week, I am back in New Jersey where it is
nice and quiet - and wet. The rain has really sucked (excuse my
English!). I am pretty much done with it, I could move to the Sahara
for a decade and not miss the rainy days. Fortunately though, there
was so much to learn that I spent a lot of time inside at the agency
this week.
I have learned a lot at the agency, and can now very confidently
run Fotostation, download and upload pictures with ftp and scan
on their computer. I have been shooting a bit, nothing very interesting,
Carlo wants photos of Times Square, Wall St., really obese people
and teenagers smoking. I have some of all of that, except the teenagers.
On Monday, Christian (he is my friend here in NY, we go back to
'93 when we met in Paris), his girlfriend, Malin and Anders and
I went to see Puccini on the Great Lawn in Central Park. It was
a beautiful evening, it finally stopped raining, and it was free!
I was down on Wall St. today trying to get a few more shots and
was hanging out outside the Stock Exchange just after 4pm when it
let out. After a while, I realized that there were more fences and
cops as usual and a big gold bus sitting right in front. Turns out
the New Jersey Devils were inside showing off the Stanley Cup! I
hung out and got some pictures. That was pretty fun.
For the rest of the summer, I am getting a press pass so I can shoot
entertainment stuff, concerts etc. I hope to go to some fun ones.
Aerosmith is coming to Giant's stadium I think, and Dixie Chicks
will be here too. This week I am hopefully going to go to a Young
Designer's Showcase of new talent in the Meatpacking District so
that should be fun.
