| The
Calm Before the Storm
23 July 2002
I think what I experiencing is The Calm Before
the Storm.
Tonight was almost to much, in a good way. Donatienne from Paris
sang French lullabies for my cabin (which is called Avoriaz after
a famous ski area in the Haute Alps) and Tatiana was playing the
violin next door in Marseille. After Donatienne was finished, we
sat outside Marseille to listen to the end of Tatiana's playing.
We turned off our flashlights and sat on a step in the path. The
moon was shining through the trees on the lake and the sky highlighted
the silhouette of the trees above us.
This is all so overwhelming for the senses, the cold, fresh air
(it IS cold enough for me to wear my norske sokker!!!!!!), the music,
the songs, another mono Louis was telling stories on the other side
of the cabin, the light breeze, the loons calling to one another
on the lake!
I am pretty good stress wise right now, but others are not. I know
though that I am going to have my time, fortunately, it will be
towards the end of camp. We plan a Fest Noz and dance next week
and the last week we will be SWAMPED with I-Day stuff. So please
enjoy my happy camp emails while you can, because I assure you they
will become more and more insane! |
