So.....
How I got here I really don't know.... but I'm back at Lac du Bois!
If you forgot (or just have no idea) what that is... it's the French
language village at Concordia Language
Villages in Minnesota. I am in NORTHERN Minni... where there
is a WORLD convention of mosquitoes, horse flies and deer ticks
this summer. We have what must be 100% humidity, sun and not enough
time to shower.
What am I doing here you ask? Well, since I had NO other job, I
thought, it's one month, what the hell. I can handle it.
Well I can.
I'm here for 4 weeks, and I thought I'd send emails like I did two
years ago, and last summer from Norway. I am sorry for the group
thing, but I MIGHT get 30 minutes a day to do email.
So the progress.... I am COVERED in bites and taking a half dose
of Benedryl before I go to bed because they are all SOOO swollen!
I live in a small cabin with 5 villagers and they are awesome. They
are all 13 and get along super well. I have none of the problems
one normally sees among 13 year olds... gossip, bullying, backstabbing...
so I am REALLY happy. Plus, they are all learning super fast. But,
they did just arrive yesterday, so we'll see how it goes!
I am in charge of International Day with another mono (counselor)
so that should be cool... Anais and I were friends two years ago
and so I am happy to see her again. We have a little group with
Lilas from Rwanda, Donatienne from Paris and Orso from Pennsylvania.
I will be here until Aug 10th. I leave EARLY the morning of the
11th to go see my friend in the UP and go back to Michigan.
